ABOUT ME

I’m Shannon Hawker, a clinical psychologist and a deep believer in the quiet power of softness, sensitivity, and resilience.

I earned my Master of Social Science in Clinical Psychology (Cum Laude), BA Honours in Psychology (Cum Laude), and BA (Cum Laude) in South Africa. Since then, my work has taken me through psychiatric hospitals, general medical settings, schools, and correctional services, spaces that have deepened my respect for resilience, healing, and the courage it takes to grow.

I live with Epidermolysis Bullosa,  a condition that has taught me, in the most intimate way, what it means to carry both fragility and fierce strength. This lived experience shapes how I see healing: not as fixing, but as tending, not as performance, but as presence. It’s why I hold such deep respect for the body, the nervous system, and the slow, sacred work of trust.

As Dr. Tara Swart says, “You are not broken. You are becoming.”

This is where that becoming begins...gently, safely, and with care.

With love and light,

 Shannon

When I’m not in session, I love reading fiction books, documenting glimmers, spending time with animals, practicing yoga, and immersing myself in nature. These moments help me stay grounded, reflective, and connected to the things that bring joy and balance into everyday life.
